Balgowan Trail Run 2026

Set within the Michaelhouse reserve, the route winds through indigenous grasslands and NCT plantations, offering a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Balgowan Valley. Along the way, keep an eye out for oribi, a variety of birdlife, and the reserve’s distinctive Nguni cattle.

The course includes a steady climb to a hilltop viewpoint, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views across the Midlands, including Midmar Dam, iNhlosane, and, on a clear day, Giant’s Castle.

Hosted by the Balgowan Conservancy in partnership with Michaelhouse and KZNTR, the event brings together trail running, conservation, and the local community in one of the Midlands’ most scenic settings.
