Enjoyed the change of the course and scenery. What made this run unique was the stampede of Zebras and Blesbuck that I had experienced at close quarters. The fact that there was 3 water stations was welcome for the medium run.

I forgot about the 15-minute change in start times so left at 7:30 am on the 11 km trail instead of the 6 km trail. The steady elevation gain for the first 3 km was tough, especially due to the altitude (peaked at 1 500 m) and cold air. However, seeing the wild animals (e.g. blesbok and zebra) cross the trail on the fast decent and again near a small forest section was truly spectacular. At the 6.5 km mark, I realised I was on the 11 km trail, but continued to run hard to finish in a good time. I really enjoyed the pancakes and hot coffee at the finish (very reasonably priced) and stayed to watch the prize giving and to soak up the lovely warm sun. This run was by far the most scenic of the 3 trails I have completed.

The course was a good mix of challenging and enjoyable. The beautiful views made it easy to push through the challenging parts. One thing that could be improved was where the route markers were placed. There were one or two times where I nearly got lost when the route markers where placed in a way that it was unclear where to go. Aside from that, I had an amazing race experience!
