This guide walks you through entering a race for yourself, from the event page to paying. Entering takes one page: you choose what you're entering, add any extras, accept the terms and pay.
How to start your entry
- Open the event page and scroll to the races, or click Choose your race.
- Click Register Now next to the race you want. If you're not logged in, the button says Login to Register. Log in or create an account, and you are brought back.
- If your athlete profile isn't complete yet, you are sent to the Athlete profile page with the message "Please complete your athlete profile before continuing." Fill in the fields marked with a star (phone number, gender, date of birth, emergency contact name and phone) and click Save profile. You are taken straight back to your entry.
How to fill in the Register page
- Your card at the top shows your Name and Email with a You tag, and the race you chose ("Entering" the race name).
- If the event has extras, they are listed under Make race day better. Tick the ones you want. If an item has sizes, choose one from Choose an option…. Anything marked Included with entry - required is already ticked and can't be removed.
- If the race is sanctioned by Athletics South Africa, you see Club & license. Search for your Club and type your ASA license number. With both filled in, it says "Affiliated athlete". Without them you may need a temporary day licence: if the organiser requires one it is added to your total, and if they offer it as an option you tick Add a temporary day license.
- If the organiser asks extra questions, answer them under Additional information.
- If you have a code, type it into Discount code. The saving shows in the Order summary straight away.
- To send your emergency contact the race details and a calendar invite, tick Email this participant's emergency contact the race details and a calendar invite and type their email address.
- If the event offers a payment plan, choose under How do you want to pay?: Pay in full now or Split into a number of payments.
- Check the Order summary on the right. It shows each item, any discounts and the Total.
- Tick I accept the Platform Terms & Conditions and I accept the Event Organizer Terms & Conditions. Click either name to read them.
- Click Pay R... & confirm. If the entry is free, the button says Complete registration.
How to pay
- After you click Pay R... & confirm, you see Redirecting to the organiser's payment provider (PayFast, Bob Pay or Paystack).
- Pay on their page.
- You come back to a Payment successful page with your registration number, and a confirmation email is sent to you.
Good to know
- Your medical details (medical aid, medical aid number, allergies or conditions) come from your athlete profile. They are shared with the event's medical team only.
- To change your details, update your Athlete Profile before you enter. Changing a detail with Edit my details for this entry on the Register page only fills in details your profile doesn't have yet. It does not replace what is already saved.
- Your entry isn't confirmed until you have paid. Until then it shows as Payment pending and doesn't hold your place. See "Payment failed or cancelled" if something goes wrong.
- If you already have an entry for a race whose start time overlaps, the event page asks whether you are entering someone else. Choose I'm registering someone else, or tick the box and click Register myself for the race.
- Prices on the Register page come from the server every time you change something, so the total you see is the total you pay.
Common questions
Why was I sent to my profile when I clicked Register Now?
Organisers need your phone number, date of birth, gender and an emergency contact for every entry. Fill in the starred fields on your Athlete profile and click Save profile. You are taken back to your entry.
The Pay button is greyed out
You haven't ticked both terms boxes yet. The page says "Accept the terms to continue" until you do.
It says I'm already registered for this race
You already have an entry for that race. Open My Events from the menu under your name to see it. If you want to enter someone else, use Group registration on the event page instead.
What is a temporary day licence and do I need one?
On races sanctioned by Athletics South Africa, runners who aren't in a club with an ASA licence may need a one-day licence. Add your club and ASA licence number on the Register page to skip it. If the organiser requires it, it is added to your total as Temporary day licence. If they make it optional, you tick Add a temporary day license yourself.
